The word ‘ministries’ comes from the Latin word meaning “to render service”.
Ministries is used in the Church to describe, not only the ordained ministry of
priesthood, but also to describe the different ways in which Catholics exercise
various functions within the Church – answering a call to serve. A ministry has
the ultimate aim of building up the kingdom of God as revealed by Christ.
Instituted ministries at St. Patrick’s include those of Altar Servers, Children's
Liturgy, Eucharist, Music and the Word (please refer to the side menu).
Other ministries provided for at the Cathedral, without a formal commission from
Church, include the care of flowers, the candlestand and small cleaning and
maintenance jobs. If you feel a call to participate in any of the foregoing
ministries, please contact the Cathedral Office.
