Weddings at St Patrick's Cathedral

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! We welcome your consideration of the use of St Patrick's Cathedral for your marriage celebration.

St Patrick's Cathedarl is a sacred place for such a special occasion. It is the mother church and also the principal place of worship for Catholics in the Diocese of Auckland.

The first wedding celebrated on the Cathedral site occurred over 160 years ago. For some couples, celebrating their wedding with us has important significance because they have had parents and grandparents married here before them. For others, who may be relatively new to the Diocese or New Zealand, their wedding at the Cathedral marks the beginning of a family tradition. Whatever your circumstances, we know that you will respect the unique character and setting of the Cathedral.

Given its cultural significance and heritage value to our community, there are special considerations that you need be aware of when contemplating the booking of the Cathedral for your wedding. A booklet is available from the office (Click here to send us email asking for a copy of our Wedding Information Pack - be sure to include your mailing address). This pack contains most of the information you will need when thinking about getting married at the Cathedral, including:

* information regarding the marriage preparation programme (compulsory when getting married in New Zealand)

Booking your wedding

Because of the large number of enquiries we receive, we do not accept 'pencil' bookings - contact us to check the availability of the dates you have in mind. Make sure you also contact your priest to make sure he is available on the dates you are looking at! A booking is not confirmed until we have received your booking form and donation. For non-parishioners this donation is a minimum of $400.00. Further details are explained in the Wedding Information Pack.
