Becoming Catholic

The Covid-19 virus lock-down has meant that we have had to postpone the reception of all Sacraments until further notice. The current RCIA programme will still be meeting remotely to continue their faith journey together.

If you have any questions about the RCIA programme, you are most welcome to contact us. Cathedral Office or e-mail

An important part of the Cathedral’s life is welcoming new Catholics.

The programme of adult formation in the faith is known as the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA).

It is a wonderful series of steps and stages that can lead to baptism, confirmation and Eucharist (Communion).

Usually adult baptisms (or ‘Reception’ if you already have received a Christian baptism) take place at the great Easter Vigil Mass on Saturday evening. It is a wonderful and moving ceremony that coincides with the first Mass of the Resurrection.

You can join the RCIA at any time. There is a course currently underway ~ all enquirers are welcome, there will be no pressure to sign up. We take you as you are and go at your pace!

For further (no obligation) enquiries, please contact our Parish Pastoral Coordinator, Anita Hudson, via the Cathedral Office or e-mail
